Primary school enrolment

Enrolment for Year 1 for the 2025/2026 school year

Enrolment takes place in April 2025:

• on Tuesday 1 April 2025 from 14.00 to 18.00,
• individually by arrangement (please use the contact form, and we will offer you an individual enrolment date).

Enrolment conditions

A child who meets the conditions for starting compulsory school attendance may be enrolled in Year 1. For the 2025/2026 school year, this concerns a child:

• born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019;
• who was granted a deferral of compulsory school attendance last year.

A younger child may also be enrolled if the specified conditions are met:

• a child born between 1 September 2019 and 31 December 2019, if the parent or guardian provides a supporting assessment from a school counselling facility;
• a child born between 1 January 2020 and 30 June 2020, if the parent or guardian provides a supporting assessment from a school counselling facility and a supporting assessment from a specialist doctor.

The admissions process

1. The parent or guardian, together with the child, attends in person the enrolment on 1 April 2025 or on an individually arranged date. During enrolment, they:
   • submit a written application for the child's admission (the form can be downloaded from the school's website, or filled in during enrolment at the school);
   • present personal documents: the child's birth certificate (or the child's identity card or passport) and their own proof of identity (identity card or passport), or a residence permit for the Czech Republic if applicable;
   • present the decision granting a deferral of compulsory school attendance, if the child had a deferral.
2. An admissions interview takes place as part of the enrolment, on the basis of which it is assessed whether and to what extent the applicant meets the criteria for admission to Akadem Primary School.
3. Based on the evaluation of the fulfilment of the criteria, the order of applicants is determined, and the head teacher issues a decision on admission or non-admission.
4. We send the parent or guardian a proposal for admission by e-mail, the decision on admission is handed over to the parent or guardian when signing the contract. In the event of non-admission, we send the decision on non-admission to the parent or guardian in writing (by post to their home address or to the contact address given in the application for admission).

Admission criteria

Basic criteria for admission:

1. The applicant meets the enrolment conditions – age, submission of a written application, personal attendance of the child and parent or guardian at enrolment.
2. The applicant meets the conditions for education according to the school educational programme (assessed and verified by a member of school staff at the time of enrolment).

Criteria for determining the order of applicants if the number of applicants who meet the basic criteria is higher than the number of pupils to be admitted:

1. The applicant has a sibling who is already a pupil at Akadem Primary School.
2. The applicant is resident in the municipal district of Prague 2.
